Day 1 - Taoyuan International Airport -> Yilan, LuoDong

2016

Itinerary for 12 days trip (18/11-30/11)

Day 1

I booked the flight 3 months before the trip for 8paxs. We flew by Scoot to Taoyuan Airport, and returned by Kaohsiung Airport. The ticket booked separately cost $387 per pax with 20kg and 30kg each without food.

Scoot have two flight schedule everyday, one in the morning while the other was in the noon. We took the afternoon flight at 12.10pm as we didn't want to wake up early.

This trip, I booked our usual driver/guide, Mr Zhong. We reached around 4.50pm but only manage to leave the Airport at 6.30pm. As we decide to have our dinner first before heading to Yilan which is around 2hours drive away from Taoyuan.

Note

  • Usually Taiwan Airport exchange rate will be better than Singapore (even better than Clifford Center) . You can check via their website Bank of Taiwan (BOT) or Mega Bank

  • You can book your 4G wifi via Klook App at $3 SGD  which is cheaper than Changi recommend. You can collect at the wifi device Counter 3 level 1 and return it either the same place or the other Airport. (I collect at Taoyuan & returned at Kaohsiung Airport) You need to present the voucher which you book via Klook, and deposit just pass them your debit/credit card. They wouldn't charge unless you return late or spoil or lost their item.

  • Or if you are travelling alone or prefer hassle free. You can buy the 4 or 4.5G sim card at the Airport. Its NT800 for  Taiwan 大哥大 15days 4.5G network.

We reached our LuoDong(罗东) Season 5 hotel at around 8.30pm. I manage to find this hotel/inn from online blogs and they were newly open this year(2016). A 4pax room was less than $110 and $77 for a 2pax room. Our driver/guide help us to booked. It cost SGD $1112 for 3 room 8paxs for 4 nights.

This hotel/inn is nearby LuoDong nightmarket (罗东夜市) which is less than 15minutes walk away.

We ended up our Day 1 trip at LuoDong Nightmarket with some finger foods.

LuoDong Nightmarket popular food as recommended by the locals there:
  • 阿灶伯當歸羊肉
  • 阿公仔龍鳳腿
  • 義豐蔥油派 蔥油餅
  • 臭薯条
  • 紅心芭樂
